Until I can get off my butt and come up with some relevent, interesting, and possibly informative articles about livin' la vida geeka, you'll just hafta gaze upon my two kitties, Skeeto (the orange and white domestic short hair pain in the butt) and Otto (my Siamese mix, I only meow for food, please don't bring up my race kitty). To the left was my pumpkin from last year which is sitting proudly atop the magnificently tacky gold/brass & glass multi-tiered table thing. Outside, you can see the vibrant foliage that lines my street. Enjoy.

The Tyanne Story

Let's just say that despite the fact that I never PLANNED to have FOUR kitties, I now do and the new addition to the bunch is a WELCOME addition. Her name is Tyanne and Chantal & I found her at the Worcester Animal Rescue League. Originally, it was Chantal's plan to "up" her cat population to three by adding this cute 8 week old Siamese mix kitty to her two cats. Well, the other two kitties wanted no part of it and Tyanne came back to my house to see if Otto, Skeeto & Mathilda would accept a new kitty.

It took a couple days, but after Mathilda got "fixed", there was a miraculous transformation of the cat dynamic at the House of Doug in that Mathilda became Tyanne's defacto mother cat, Otto became Dad and Skeeto became the put-off-ish uncle type. Tyanne and Mathilda are always cuddling together, nursing even, too! And Otto has taken to grooming Tyanne as well as any other kitty that gets close enough... So, it's one big happy cat family here, but let me assure you that under NO circumstances am I taking in ANY more kitties! Yikes...

The Mathilda Story

We have a NEW addition to the family here at the House of Doug: She came to us one morning on the lower outside roof area of the house, of all places. She had climbed up a tree and was mewing outside one of the bedroom windows. Poor Skeeto was sitting high atop his perch (consisting of a blanket on top of two stacked milk crates full of sweaters and whatnot) and was looking at the kitty outside sadly. I wasn't able to take the new kitty in at this time, fearing she might be carrying a disease that the other cats could catch... Lo and behold, she was back that same night, on the roof, mewing and crying... I took her in, set her up with a bed & some food out in the garage, but she was back again the NEXT morning (in a tree that she climbed up herself, high overlooking the bathroom of my house) and I took her to the vet to be checked out. She checked out fine, was determined to be between 6-12 mos. old and I named her Mathilda.

It's been a couple weeks since she came to live with the four other cats and us humans, and some of the other kitties have needed special consoling to reassure them that they are still special and not being replaced or forgotten about... (see Skeeto and Doug to the right)

Skeeto caught a MOUSE on the morning of July 24, 2000! It was an unbelievable thing! As I got up out of bed, I heard a strange sound outside the bedroom door and assumed it was vaccuuming going on downstairs. NO! It was actually Skeeto growling while holding a still LIVE mouse in his mouth! He was SO proud of himself! Subsequently the mouse went the way of the Tidy Bowl man and all of the cats skulked around looking for new prey... (The picture above is of Skeeto in one of his favorite hangouts: the bathroom sink. Why? We don't know...

Here we see all of my friend Chantal's kitties loungin' it up on the big bed! Taking up the rear is the ever grumpy, Shawna, to the right is Anton and in the front is Simon...
