General Information

ANT! (3) is coming up pretty quick.
I apologize for not updating this particular
section of the site, BUT we've been busy here
on the ANT!-hill, recruiting, publicizing
and doing all we can to keep the arts just as
vibrant as we'd like to think ANT! has helped
it to be in Worcester...

Here's the drill...

Set-up on Sunday, October 10th is between 8am & 11am
(the EARLIER the BETTER)
We have alot of artists with alot of stuff to
get up the stairs to the WAG and we're all going
to have to be patient. There are 2 sets of stairs
to utilize, a big freight elevator, some industrial
carts and a bunch of volunteer ANT! workers.

PLEASE BE PATIENT.

Even if coming early, setting up and going out for
breakfast or brunch or whatever... we can reccomend
some great Worcester diners to get yr breakfast at IF
you come early enough.

BRING YOUR OWN TABLE / SET-UP

BRING YOUR $10 SPACE FEE
(pay Doug AFTER set-up as he comes around)

BRING SNACKS / BEVERAGES / a PICNIC

That's pretty much it for now, but we're hoping to
have over 35 artists this time around, all kinds of
publicity is STILL in the works (ongoing process),
we still need YOU to spread the word
and we can't wait to see everyone at the WAG for ANT!

p.s. There won't be an ANT! Boardgame this time
around. I left the info up in this section of the site
just so people could see what kind of stuff ANT!
has dreamt up doing in the past.

HOW MUCH SPACE YOU GET...

Cheryl & I have physically measured out the Worcester Artist
Group and determined that everyone will have a 6' wide by
5' deep space with which to display and sell their wares.

We're assuming that most long fold-up tables are approximately
3' wide, leaving 2' for one to sit, stand, be there to talk up their
work. We've also alotted ABOUT 3-5' between tables for the
general public to walk through and check out all the art.

TABLES

Anthony Magnetta (one of the many participants in
ANT!2) has e-mailed me to let me know that he's
buying a 24 x 48 folding table at KMart or WalMart and he says
they sell for about $30 apiece. I thought this was good information
to pass along to those who might be unsure how to deal with
the fact that ANT! is not providing tables, just the SPACE
and it might be a wise investment if you're planning on being
involved in lots of arts events...

THE ANT BOARD GAME

(Click here to see the PDF version of the board game)

The ANT! Board Game is all set and ready to go! Every artist
participating at ANT(2)! has a square of their very own.
People coming to see what ANT! is all about will be handed an
ANT! board game as the enter Worcester Artist Group and
will start roaming the ANT! hill looking to fill out their board
with stamps / stickers / markings from each artist space!

BE PREPARED!

The stamp / sticker / marking does NOT have to be handmade
or anything complicated. It could be as simple as stickers bought
at the store or a rubber stamp from work or SOMETHING.

THE POINT

the point of all this is NOT to have people BOTHER the artists,
but to INTERACT and SAY "HI" with all the artists, see your
art and to encourage people to check out ALL of the spaces!

ART PRIZES / GIFT CERTIFICATES, etc.

We've gotten responses from SOME artists about art prizes they'd
like to donate to the ANT! Board Game incentive thing, but it'd be
great if EVERYONE participated with one item to give away.
PLEASE contact me at: doug@dsquared.org and
let me know what you can donate to the cause. Thank you!

HOW MUCH SPACE YOU GET...

Cheryl & I have physically measured out the Worcester Artist

We're assuming that most long fold-up tables are approximately
3' wide, leaving 2' for one to sit, stand, be there to talk up their
work. We've also alotted ABOUT 3-5' between tables for the
general public to walk through and check out all the art.

A map of the newly mapped out ANT! hill will be posted soon!

THE ANT BOARD GAME INCENTIVE...

In my attempt to add MORE dimensionality to the ANT!
event, I've designed an 8.5x11 board game that will be handed
to everyone walking through the WAG doors to the ANT! event.

There are squares on this board with every artist's name on one
and the attendees are to go to each (or as many as they care to)
artist's table, get a stamp / sticker on that artist's square
and fill the whole board up. Those who fill their entire board are
eligible to win ART GIVEAWAYS and other PRIZES!

The point of this board game thing is to encourage people to
interact MORE with all of the artists, to stick around longer
to see what prize they might have won AND to make the event
all the more fun.

PLEASE BRING WITH YOU STICKERS or a RUBBER STAMP
or SOMETHING with which to mark your square UNIQUELY
as people wander around the ANT! hill checking out art & getting
their boards stamped/stickered.

Here's what the preliminary board looks like: (PDF format)

ANT! ART GIVE-AWAYS / PRIZES

As part of this board game incentive, I'm looking for anyone
and everyone to come up with ONE PRIZE to give away. You don't
have to participate in this if you don't want to, but it might be
a great way to get your art out there more and to add to the fun
of the whole event. PLEASE e-mail me if you want to be in
on the give-away and let me know what you're donating.

ALSO... if you know of a store or business that would like to
donate a gift certificate or some sort of prize, please get them
in touch with me. Already, That's Entertainment comic
book & collectible store in Worcester has stated that they're
interested in donating gift certificates toward the ANT! cause.
